Personal Details
Alan Pomeroy (b.1944 Australia). www.alanpomeroyart.com (he/him, artist)
Alan is a Canberra artist, specialising in figurative and abstract art using various mediums. Currently he is working on a series of paintings in oils.
He also works with acrylics, water colours and the traditional Byzantine technique with egg tempera and gold leaf for religious Icons.
As a photographer, Alan gathers inspiration from worldwide travels. He also creates digital composites by merging images of the natural world with those of his artwork, using software, to produce fine art prints.
Alan employs line, colour, and movement to create emotive and thought-provoking images, often juxtaposing the human form with rural and domestic landscapes.
Alan’s work is represented in private and corporate collections in Australia and overseas.
Artistic education
Graduate Diploma in Visual Arts - Australian National University School of Art (1981).
Painting. Oils, water media, acrylic, charcoal, collage and mixed media. Egg tempera and gold leaf.
Digital art. Digital art images using computer software (Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop), printed as Giglee prints. From 2014 +.
Previously:
Set-up and operated a Ceramics studio (Pomeroy Pottery) producing domestic (wheel thrown production pottery), individual pieces, and sculptural work (1974 – 1982);
Created stained glass panels for both residential and commercial applications from a workshop in Fyshwick ACT (1980’s).
