About Alan Pomeroy

Alan is a full time artist living in Canberra. He has spent a lifetime practicing art.
He began with a Certificate in Art (Painting) at the RMIT in Melbourne, but 'changed' to follow a 'safe career' with Science degrees (BSc Honours and PhD) from Melbourne University and a 'secure' job in Science in the Australian public service.
However, in Melbourne, Alan did artwork for research scientists by preparing their graphs, figures and charts for publication of articles in scientific journals for several years.
Later In Canberra, Alan worked as both a scientist in the government and as an artist working in a home studio in a variety of media.
Eventually he completed formal art training with a Diploma in Visual Arts from the ANU School of Art .

- Currently Alan is working in the mediums of Digital, acrylic, oils, water-media and mixed media;
- Previously, he set-up and ran a Ceramics studio as 'Alandra Pottery' and 'Pomeroy Pottery', (Canberra ACT. 1972-80) for production wheel-thrown pottery and exhibition pieces, including sculptural pieces; and
- Also previously, a Workshop 'Reproduction Stained Glass', (Fyshwick, ACT. 1985-88) for stained glass panels for both residential and commercial applications.
