About Alan Pomeroy

Picture
Alan in India pursuing his passion for the 'perfect artistic' photograph in the face of obstacles!

Current work creating Digital Art Images

Digital Art Images are created and available in high definition (HD) using professional digital tools (tablet and software).

 The Images are made available for printing in appropriately high resolution on a variety of mediums, such as paper or canvas, using pigmented inks (as in Giclee Fine Art Prints).

The images shown in my Galleries are in low resolution, so much of the fine detail is not obvious.

Alan is a full time artist living in Canberra. He has spent a lifetime practicing art.
He began with a Certificate in Art (Painting) at the RMIT in Melbourne, but 'changed' to follow a 'safe career' with Science degrees (BSc Honours and PhD) from Melbourne University and a 'secure' job in Science in the Australian public service.
However, in Melbourne, Alan did artwork for research scientists by preparing their graphs, figures and charts for publication of articles in scientific journals for several years.
Later In Canberra, Alan worked as both a scientist in the government and as an artist working in a home studio in a variety of media.
Eventually he completed formal art training with a Diploma in Visual Arts from the ANU School of Art .
  • Currently Alan is working in the mediums of Digital, acrylic, oils, water-media and mixed media;
  • Previously, he set-up and ran a Ceramics studio as 'Alandra Pottery' and 'Pomeroy Pottery', (Canberra ACT. 1972-80) for production wheel-thrown pottery and exhibition pieces, including sculptural pieces; and
  • Also previously, a Workshop 'Reproduction Stained Glass', (Fyshwick, ACT. 1985-88) for stained glass panels for both residential and commercial applications.
Alan enjoys the interpretive use of line, colour and movement to evoke emotive images that range across the realms of decorative, thought provoking and sometimes even confronting. His combination of design and symbolism is used to dramatic effect in creating images of the human form interacting with the landscape.
